From:
<PAKSARZAMEEN1@aol.com> Dear
Editor, Through
your esteemed magazine, I would like to get attention of higher
authorities. Thanks. Chief
Executive I
would like to bring a matter to your immediate attention. Recently, I saw
a poster published here in New York regarding a live show ‘Bollywood
Awards” As the name tells it is a show of Indian film industry. One
of the Pakistani actress Reema also performing in the show. A few months
back, I witnessed one of her performance in the USA, it was so
embarrassing that I have decided, I will never take my family to any
Pakistani Show in the future. The complete show was full of adult jokes,
vulgar dances, and songs. Specially,
Reema’s dance was so much degrading that I had to leave the show along
with my two teen age daughters, who later asked me that this is Pakistani
Culture. In the beginning of the show, it was announced that these shows
help in promoting Pakistani culture and traditions.
I am sure Reema will be performing once again the same dances from
an Indian platform, which will bring a bad name to our country. I would like to find out, is there any authority in Pakistan
who gives permission to our artists to perform in Indian shows. Bollywood
Award is purely an Indian affair. I don’t see participation of Pakistani
Artists in it. Therefore, there must be a check on such performance act. GOD
BLESS PAKISTAN. KARIM

“balti” <balti@super.net.pk> Letters
to Editor. The
glacier reservoir Sir, There
are over forty living glaciers in Karakouram range which can provide
enough water for Pakistan and avert an impending crisis due to the failure
of rains in our area. As the government is planning Oil Spillage
Contingency Plan for our Sea waters, it should have thought about planning
water contingency plan well in time. All
these measures require sincerity of purpose and imagination of the rulers
bereft of their planning how to perpetuate their hold on power. Had our
rulers planned to utilize the glaciers they would not have to cry for
water today. Water is the essential requirement of existence and should
attract the attention of the powers that be on top priority basis. So far
as it goes for the rivers, we have been crying hoarse in these columns
about the desalination of SeaWater for human consumption, as is being done
in other cities of the world. Stop
all annual development and political plans and for that matter any
programme to provide water to 140 million people of Pakistan on permanent
basis. Yours
etc., Ali
