Joint Indo-US-Zionists forces at jump off point

Columnist Lt Col (Retd) ZAMAN MALIK analyses US-Israeli interests in the Middle East.

Prime Minister Ehud Barak of Israel became Chief Executive in July 99, after replacing his predecessor Benyamin Nethanyahu. A conceptual gap existed between the vision of two governments.

Nethanyahu believed that peace surrounding Arab countries must come after a system of national security had been established in the region, and existential threats such as that posed by Iran, had been neutralised. He, however, failed because of the failure of his policy. Here I would not at all like to proceed any further unless I have very briefly drawn the attention of the readers to the newly developed understanding between the Governments of Iran and that of Russia, with regard to their perceptions about the common threat they faced from Talibans. Both have joined hands with the concurrence of CIS to initiate decisive measures against the Talibans. What they want to do against the Talibans is of the least of a concern for Pakistan, provided it did not impinge upon the security concerns of this country. Clear cut assurances to the effect must be taken out for the information of all concerned in the forthcoming OIC conference on 12 Nov 2000.

Reverting back to the difference of conceptual perceptions between the PMs of Israel, one would say the main aim of the both, was the same. Only the label on the wine bottle differed. But Barak had to appear a bit more pleasant looking; only the body language was attired with a more sober and comparatively pleasing garments.

Barak thought that Israel could not have a foreign policy that was not intimately linked to, and depended upon, the peace process. Hence, the resurrection of the peace process, became a key item in Israel’s foreign policy-agenda, through a foreign policy based on peace with Arab world. Israel was to become a vital component in regional order, constituting the cardinal point of its foreign policy. So, the difference in both, in nutshell, was ‘stick before the carrot, and that of the carrot before the stick’, and nothing else.

Declaration of Principles. Not withstanding the UN Security Council’s Resolutions 242 of 1967 or 2423, Oslo agreement empowered Israel to decide from which occupied territories it would like to withdraw. Palestinian state would not have clear cut borders and, therefore, it would be violated on a flimsy pretext as and when required for, by Israel, with impunity. Israel, discarding UN Resolution 242, charted her course through Oslo agreement, terming it ‘bilaterally and internationally accepted framework and procedure in the Peace Process’, and accordingly, proceeded to bring about a negotiated ‘Declaration of Principles’.

Barak linked the Palestinian’s right of self-determination given to it by UNO, with the outcome of a negotiated settlement, through agreement rather than a ‘diktat’. By this, Israel had sought demilitarisation, a readjustment of borders to accommodate security needs of both the countries and own sovereignty over the areas occupied by the settlers Ñ Jews coming from all over the world. During the long and arduous process, it sometime looked, as though the peace was around the door bell. But alas, neither before, and any time now or hereafter, negotiations based on malice were ever successful. Crooks try to be clever, while it takes courage to be wise.

The peace process was delivered a mortal blow when US president issued an ‘announcement’, probably under the spell of Monica’s Nightmarish love affair or Hillary’s pressure for getting her Jewish votes for seat in the Senate. Otherwise, there seemed to be no earthly reason to let the hard-earned reward go so soon, so easily, down the drain. President Clinton, otherwise, might well have gone to jail, after facing the term of his office, when he would, by all probability, be appearing before the court for the well-known reasons. Very rightly, the hitherto less sensitive Palestinians, became ever more diffident, when they heard about shifting of US embassy from Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem. It became terribly hard for Yasser to proceed with the farce, then onwards. The cat was out of the bag; and die was cast to the negotiations; or to say the least, the salt has lost its savour. Trying to detract the weak and impoverished people of Palestine, from the crystal clear resolutions of the UN Security Council, through deceit and beguile, force and intimidation, has also made strange bed-fellows between Israel and India, with their common natural ally Ñ of the common defiant states of the criminal states of India and Israel. If this is, and noting of course, this alone indeed is the common bond, common cause, between the murderers of Muslims, to the extent of their genocide at stunningly fast pace, then the Law of Nature will take its own course before long Ñthe course the ‘Scattered Tribes are, quite familiar with.

The fear to Muslims stems not so much from poverty and squalid, as it does due to ignorance and rigidity. When Allama Mashraquie’s Khaksar went to kill the Quaid and he could not; what did he say: ‘You want our sisters and daughters to go Ñ go around without a shuttle cock-Burqa’. On this, Quaid, told him that he had saved his and Muslims sisters, mothers and daughters from the slavery of Hindus, who would have let them wear what they (Hindus themselves) wanted them to wear or words to that effect. He further informed him that the Holy Prophet (PBUH), and His family themselves, never observed Purdah, the way the Muslims like him had come to perceive. So, the apprehension Ñ grave apprehension is due to such like drones who are even today busy in rhetoric’s around Islamabad, trying to divide Muslims whose forefathers too were Muslims, who could not follow the religions of Hindus or Masters-Britishers, despite centuries of slavery. Why are you wasting time on them? Go out, speak to outside world about Islam, with sweat reasons and sound arguments, in the language which Sir Syed Ahmed Khan had taught you despite your blood-sucking enmity, which Iqbal used in telling them about Islam, which Maulana Muhammad Ali Jauhar used to tell them about the Muslims and which, the Quaid used and took from them the homeland by using the same language that they understood better. Islam is the most misunderstood religion; its enemies are busy outside; teach them, tell them there, because the weapon of reason and convincing argument is the weapon that was given by the Holy Quran, and it is far more effective than the language of sheer militancy. Are you sincere to Islam or you are using the name of Islam for political ends? It would be prudent for you to look back to analyse as to why could you NOT succeed despite breaking and burning the cables of the loudspeakers from the pulpit? You should think constructively and learn lesson, so that you might get more votes in the Assemblies. Will you do so, if not, atleast for your own cause? So, the real trouble always lay in such like elements which were used by the Jews, to kill Muslim by Muslim. No sir, please think where we stand today vis-a-vis our enemies who having well coordinated, are all set to pounce upon the OIC countries. That much for that, and sorry for digression! But before going back, let us think, whether this abject poverty is not due to ignorance more, far more than any other reason and can anybody go and find out where that Afghanistan has disappeared from 1987 to until a few years back? Tell them to rediscover it without becoming brothers first! What credentials do they possess to justify that they are good Muslims and that they did it because of Islam and NOT at the behest of Zionists because of their teachings, they had left behind, before leaving in 1987? No good Muslim would ever cooperate with the Jews and Hindus in the name of Islam!

So, the US announced the shifting of its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. Palestinians decided unilaterally on a new deadline for the declaration of a Palestinian state, and it was soon legitimised by world-wide acceptance, particularly through the Berlin Declaration by EU, who extended un-equivocal recognition to it. The foreign policy of Israel had failed because of the US president himself.

In her foreign policy Israel has made a triangle of Jordan, Palestine and Israel itself. Barak thought that Syria and Egypt would be vying as competitors for supremacy in any case. Israel also failed in turning Lebanon from a Syrian playing-card to an Israeli leverage on the man in Damascus Ñ the President of Syria. Attacks by Hizbollah continued despite suffering deaths and deaths of their unarmed stone throwing little children. Israel denies historical reality of the Muslim sovereignty prior to Israeli occupation of East Jerusalem as a consequence of April 1967 War. The UN Resolution 242 envisages vacation of all territories i.e. Eastern part, West Bank, Ghaza and Golan Heights.

The atrocious visit of Ariel Sharon to Harm-al-Sharif aflamed and spurred the precariousness of the situation. Despite best efforts, Egypt could not be kept out. Kofi Annan, President Clinton, Arafat, and Barak joined while despite Russia’s asking for it and EU’s indispensable participation’s hugely important need, they could not be a formal party to it.

Even here, Israel and US did not agree for the constitution of an Inquiry Commission, to establish the reason why the visit by Ariel Sharon had taken place which caused the widespread riots, demonstrations and killings, marking the end of Shamal Sheikh conference and spoiling the show of the tripartite conference between the usual three, at Paris. No headway is at all possible now, without EU’s participation including Russia. President Clinton should restore peaceful environment, rather than stick to his old policy. He has failed and has also failed Barak, who might be replaced by someone else by the Zionists of Israel.

Europe has a valid and rich concept on security, based on international cooperation, civil society, environmental improvement, immigration policies, fighting drug trafficking, etc. The right of self-determination given by the UN Security Council’s Resolutions, to the people of Palestine and the state of Jammu and Kashmir, would most probably, not be forsaken by the EU, as a whole; instead of the US which has become a very active party to dispute like Israel and India, in these regions of the Muslim world, because of strategic benefits that she accrues from their wealth and because by this she can also dominate the world. She, the US has totally lost her credibility, as an honest broker.

The clinical analysts of the world events suggest that the frustrated US administration, both at home and abroad, is likely to shoot trouble in the Muslim world, from Indonesia to Palestine. Kabul is imminently threatened because of the so-called ‘Terrorist’ bogey. Pakistan and its air space faces violations. The US forces are on ‘RED ALERT’, not for nothing. Will they wait or even care for the OIC conference on November 12 2000? Our scrupulously honest and most patriotic politicians will cooperate rather lead the nation to face the enemy with courage and curb the black sheep and CIA’s hounds (US CIA’s) and uproot them. The nation is sure of such like political leaders, who stand by Pakistan and its people rather than by the deserters and thieves who are playing the role of Zionist’s agents, from abroad. America will never allow peace, because its biggest industry and biggest earning is from armament industry. Let no one have any illusions about that.

What constitutes terrorism in India’s view and who have formed alliance to crush it (be it in the IHK) with India, and for what reasons and to what end; concerns us hugely, both here in Pakistan and in the OIC at large and we must, therefore, seek clarification from all, particularly from Iran Ñ our next door brother! It is precisely for this reason that Pakistan cannot lower its guards, and has to be ready for all unavoidable eventualities, following what is happening in the ME and in the deep down South Asia. Foreign Minister too, has said that we shall not allow any air violations of our space. We cannot forget US in ‘Kargil’. In the meanwhile, Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan should be provided a chance to face the people in PTV programme, before he tries to confound the confusion, when the country sits with fingers crossed.
