Brig (Retd) Zahir Alam Khan 2nd May 1929 — 20th June 2002 Col (Retd) Nusrat Ullah, Chairman Pathfinder Group remembers his good friend “ZA”. With deep sorrow DEFENCE JOURNAL announces the death of Brig (Retd) Z A Khan on June 20, 2002. He wrote two books (THE WAY IT WAS and WEAPONS AND TACTICS), both of which were serialized by DJ. A sister company DYNAVIS (Pvt) Ltd had the privilege of publishing both the books, these were acclaimed within and outside the country. He belonged to an illustrious military family. Nine brothers were in the services of the Armed Forces - three brothers reached Four and Three Stars rank. Two of his younger brothers died in the service of Pakistan. All brothers were award winners pertaining to Gallantry. Brig (Retd) ZA Khan had physical and intellectual courage. He performed tasks which were thought to be difficult, but could say and write what he thought to be truthful. These were the pillars of ZA’s character and personality. May ALLAH rest his soul in peace and give strength to his family, friends and associates to bear this tragedy.
