Global village faces Hobson’s choice

Columnist Lt Col (Retd) ZAMAN MALIK says we have hardly any options in the new world environment.

To achieve peace we need a new orientation of thought and a new knowledge of the dynamics of change in the history of human society, that has appeared, in the global village of the New World that stands deprived of relevant and compatible Doctrine, and harkens for the much needed order to show itself, to stop the horrors that have enveloped the Muslims, from West to East, given the opportunism made use of by the UN defiant nations, for themselves. The masters of the ‘New World Order’ having designed and experimented their ‘World Trade Organisation’ (WTO), are relentlessly busy in serving their own vital interests, ignoring the interests of the entire global village. The pyrrhic success, of the scofflaw states, has helped, only to recreate the old cold war era. But going back to old pattern of power politics, does not seem possible, today, as the global village faces an enemy from within every state. The peace was never so much possible as it is today, provided the injustices done so far to the Third World are removed and double standards are given up first, and the present and future demands of the Fourth Wave of the Civilization are adequately met right now. Major responsibility rests on the shoulders of the US administrations, who have incidentally become the head of the World Coalition against terrorism. If Americans do not display foresight, and galvanise the world community at this critical juncture of time, they will only find themselves to blame. They will be facing an unprecedented reaction from the old world, or having realized the likely outcome of their failing efforts, they might resort to a sort of ‘Hiroshima and Nagasaki’, from their bases from where they are encircling the entire globe. Nature, sometimes, seems to be pressing the humanity to move towards the ‘oneness of mankind’, by making it conscious of the perils that are at stake for it, before the Rubicon is stepped across by it! Unfortunately, America itself appears to be deviating from the path of peace disregarding good of the mankind of the global village, for which the humanity had shown so much enthusiasm, after September 11.
For peace, the humanity has to abandon its old patterns of behaviour and embrace a new outlook that is governed by an act of consultative will. As the nations have been fused into one common concern (war against terrorism), failure to stem the tide of this enemy from within, will be unconscionably irresponsible. The constantly lurking fear however, is that the situation might be hijacked from the US administration, by the extremist elements who are highly puissant in America and the West. One cannot forget that even Adam was not spared when he ignored the order/guidance. What if the opportunity slips off the US hands? The pseudo-evil forces will, by all probability, open their own Pandora’s boxes everywhere, across the global village, making worst example of America itself in the very first instance. Therefore, having led the world against the evil forces, America will have to demonstrate the best of personal examples, in this regard, as long as it is required. It is the US itself which has made us face the Hobson’s choice.
At this stage of human evolution, America itself, in the foremost, must stop clinging with the conventional wisdom, realizing its role as a leader of the world coalition. Conventional wisdom sees conflict as the warp and woof of history, punctuated by wars and relieved by temporary respites, when swords are shielded and guns are silent. In conventional terms peace is merely truce; war, with ultimate conquest or subjugation, victory or defeat, is the paradigm. Unfortunately enough, religious strife itself has been and continues to remain the leading cause of wars and conflict, a major blight to progress, and increasingly abhorrent to the people of all faiths and no faith.
The conventional concept of history is not only false, it is a menace to life and civilization. The global village comprising 192 nations must conclude a binding treaty and establish a covenant, the provision of which shall be sound, invoilable and definite. The humanity is one; its beginning and its destiny are one; the blood of all is red containing the same contents. All religions are one. What to say of Abrahmic religions, Hinduism believed in one God and Muhammad (PBUH), as His last Prophet. Bhavishya Purana Parv 3, Khand 3, Adhya 3, Shalok 5-8, according to Gospel of Barnabas, P. 294 say: “A malechha (belonging to a foreign country and speaking foreign language), spiritual teacher will appear with his companions. His name will be Muhammad. Raja (Bhoj) after giving this Maha Dev Arab (of Angelic disposition) a bath in the ‘Punchgvya’ and the Ganges water, (i.e purging him of all the sins) offered him the presents of his sincere devotion and showing him all reverence said, ‘I make obeisance to thee’, ‘O Ye’ the pride of mankind, the dweller in Arabia, Ye have collected a great force to kill the devil, and you yourself have been protected from malechha opponents.
‘O Ye’ the image of most pious God —the biggest Lord, I am slave to thee, take me as one lying on your feet. “It is a syncretic religion. -3- (THE GOSPEL OF BARNABAS, PUBLISHERS- BEGAM AISHA BAWANY WAQF, P.O. BOX NO. 4178, KARACHI-2 (PAKISTAN).” Faith will not be restored in the West because people believe in it to be useful. It will return only when they find that it is true.” (Norton, N.Y., 1954). “To capture the imaginations and character of man, religion must first make terms with science; not by surrendering to science one jot of truth or principle, but by restating spiritual truth in terms of compatible with the known and accepted truth.” (Tomarrow and Tomarrow by Standwood Cobl P. 56. Wilmette, Illinois, 1951). Common concern of humanity has now brought religion and science, face to face, and to the West, religion and science appear to have come to terms clearly. Science and Technological superiority cannot cope with the enemy that cannot be seen or felt with the five senses the man has been endowed with. The more you destroy others by the dint of your military might the more you increase the chances for the hidden enemy to destroy you from within. Conventional concepts have lost their utility. Let us bow down before the awesome power of God, for guidance It seems that peace has become an inescapable reality, for the mankind.
Now, instead of creating barriers in its way by encouraging racism, unbridled Nationalism, and by insisting on maintaining the ever-widening gulf between rich and poor, let us begin to evolve a new Charter of the UNO, with firm conviction that all human beings have been designed to carry forward an ever advancing civilization. We must bear in mind that to act like beasts is unworthy of man; that virtues that benefit human dignity are trustworthiness, forbearance, mercy, compassion and loving kindness towards all peoples. These are the motivations for all faiths, including that of the Mr G. W. Bush, the US President and his Vice President, and of the killers of Beirut, Palestinians, Ahmadabad in Indian state Gujarat, and all who are occupying Muslim Kashmir by force, and carrying on the genocide of Muslims and non-Muslims both, for the last about 55 years. Before long, a new UN Charter, designed for one government of the 192 UN member states, of the global village, must be brought out to save the global village itself from extinction. One government is quite possible with the help of the available Technology that ensures rapid diffusion that also can ensure implementation equally effectively.
