A Tribute
I
must confess that I used to consider Defence Journal,
and its Managing Editor Mr. Ikram Sehgal bias, an
unofficial mouthpiece of the military, with no credibility.
And, as a result, never had any special respect, trust
for either of them.
I
was mistaken. I am sorry for that rudeness and unworthy
judgement.
Actually,
the day Mr Ikram refused to accept a Senate ticket
from PML (Quislings) and with that an almost certain
senate slot, I was forced to initiate a re-evaluation
of my prejudice against him. Thereafter, stumbling
upon some truthfully critical, disapproving and hard-hitting
articles about the tragic military affairs in the
DJ altered my views altogether.
Finding
this write-up in the latest number of DJ was yet another
pleasant surprise, further enhancing my deference
for I S. No doubt, Mr Ikram Sehgal deserves not only
honest appreciation for publishing such a reproachful
piece but also a
“dil
se salute” for having courage to allow dissenting
voices in his publication.
Please,
rest assured, we Pakistanis are quite capable of sifting
gems from pebbles, differentiating friend and foe.
Our silence ought not to be interpreted as an approval.
Hats
off to Ikram Sehgal. A breeze of fresh air, indeed,
in the suffocating country of ours.
A
concerned citizen with absolutely no vested interests.
