Dear Sir

We are extremely worried about the results of Wanna operations. They say , that it might take one full Pak Army and yet not prove successful. Political resolution does not seem in the offing either. While we are heavily involved in this quagmire, IAEA has demanded inspections from us, though we are a declared nuclear power and can tell them that they need not bother themselves about it in this context and stop thinking about setting their foot on our soil. This seems to be a clear conspiracy against Pakistan.

Afghanistan is dominated by Mossad, CIA and RAW. They must have also pushed certain elements to have us sucked in the quick sands, or atleast they do whole heartedly wish to do that if they could do that. Your Oct 2002 DJ was candid enough in naming certain linchpins. Keeping this fatal factor too in mind, will it not be better to see how do the US/Zionist- Hindutva natural Allies react to our robust “NO” to IAEA inspections? How far can we afford to succumb? Our back is feeling the pains caused by the wall pressing us from behind?....more

Dear Sir

I commend the Defence Journal for being a forum for discussion of Pakistan's military history and defence matters etc.

This refers to the article “Is a Kashmir Solution in the Offing” by Air Commodore Jamal Hussain (Retired).

The writer states that “The accession of the state of Jammu and Kashmir to India by the Maharaja in 1948 whether willingly or under duress was morally and legally wrong and was in complete violation of the very concept that led to the partition of Indian Sub-Continent into India and Pakistan”.

This assertion is historically incorrect. (1) The Maharaja signed the instrument of accession not in 1948 as the writer asserts but on October 26, 1947. (2) More serious is the writers second assertion that the accession of the Maharaja “was in complete violation of the very concept that led to the partition of Indian Sub-Continent into India and Pakistan”.

The hard fact of the whole affair is as following:-....more

Subject:Troops for Iraq

I sincerely hope that Mr. Kasuri was not serious when he said the other day that the government was considering sending troops to Iraq under the UN Peace Keeping Mission. Could someone please enlighten me what did he mean by it. What will be exact role of our troops there? Will they fight the so-called Iraqi terrorists killing them and getting killed in the process? Will there be any separate command for the UN troops or will these be placed under the command of the US army commanders, which is most likely to be the case? It is indeed strange when others are pulling out of Iraq we are jumping into the inferno. If we cannot withstand external pressures and must send troops then these should be for the reconstruction of Iraq, comprising of Engineers, Signallers, Medics and Para-Medics, Logisticians from the Services Corps (Supplies) and Ordnance, rather than for 'Peace Keeping' there requiring fighting troops from Infantry, Artillery and Armoured Corps.....more
